Can old brick be repaired instead of replaced?

Usually. Damaged bricks are replaced and mortar joints are repointed. Full replacement is only needed when the brick has failed widely.

Can insulation be added from the outside?

Yes, when the cladding is being replaced. Adding continuous insulation outside the wall is an effective way to make an older house warmer.

Exterior Renovation in Vaughan

The outside of a house does two jobs: it keeps the weather out and it is what everyone sees. We update both, from masonry repair to a complete new facade. In Vaughan, most homes date from the 1980s onward: large detached houses in planned subdivisions, with estate properties around Kleinburg.

What to know.

Keeping water out
Whatever the cladding, the layers behind it matter most: the water barrier, flashing and a gap that lets the wall dry.

Heritage streets
