Exterior Renovation and Facade Updates in the GTA
The outside of a house does two jobs: it keeps the weather out and it is what everyone sees. We update both, from masonry repair to a complete new facade.

Before you start
What to know.
Keeping water out
Whatever the cladding, the layers behind it matter most: the water barrier, flashing and a gap that lets the wall dry.
Permits
Like-for-like cladding replacement usually needs no permit. Changing the wall structure, adding insulation that alters the wall build-up, or altering openings may.
Heritage streets
Homes that are heritage-designated or inside a heritage conservation district need heritage approval for changes visible from the street.

Questions
Exterior Renovation: the short answers.
- How much does exterior renovation cost?
- The cost of exterior renovation depends on the size and condition of the house and the finishes chosen, so we price it after a site visit. Call +1 (647) 718-3913 for a quote.
- Can old brick be repaired instead of replaced?
- Usually. Damaged bricks are replaced and mortar joints are repointed. Full replacement is only needed when the brick has failed widely.
- Can insulation be added from the outside?
- Yes, when the cladding is being replaced. Adding continuous insulation outside the wall is an effective way to make an older house warmer.
- Do I need approval to change the front of my house?
- Not in most cases beyond a building permit where one applies. If the property is heritage-designated or in a heritage district, you need heritage approval first.
